Over two decades later, those same images are re-exposed through AI, giving them a second life. Project Description Second Exposure is a reflection on how images evolve through technology. In the spring of 2002, during my final year of art school, digital photography had only just been permitted as a medium. The photographs in this project were captured on a 3-megapixel Nikon Coolpix camera and presented in one of my first design and art exhibitions. At the time, much of the conversation centered on whether digital photography itself could be considered art. More than twenty years later, those same images are rediscovered and uploaded into a machine archive. Through a continuous flow of morphing visuals, the photographs dissolve and transform as they pass through phases of digital interpretation before emerging again in new forms. The work explores how each generation questions new image technologies, and how archived images can gain a second life when seen through a different technological lens.
